The end of January marks a seismic shift in the world of Draft House. Tectonic plates grind and in various part of the south-east of England deep tremors are felt. Pterodactyls hover and cry menacingly as human-kind huddles for warmth in their caves, sipping hastily-foraged tea and trying not to remember the glory that is beer. But a few brave souls (some call them fools) still dare to hope that the good times may come again.
Then, right around the first of February there is a mighty BOOM, as if the Hoover Dam had given way. Suddenly we are bathed in a warm golden light. IT’S OK. BEER IS BACK.
And two days later, the Six Nations starts with England v Italy / France v Ireland / Wales v Scotland. Here at the Draft House we have brewed Ruck ‘n’ Maul with Siren Brewery, a delicious session pale ale (3.5%) to honour the tournament. Get down early on match days to bag yourself a good seat, and you can enjoy a glass (or two) for £3 a pint before 2pm.
I guarantee you, by Saturday night next week, it will all feel like a bad dream. Perhaps it was.
In the meantime, the Beer Underground has refused to observe January propriety. All month we have ducked into the Draft House and been confronted with an extraordinary array of never before seen Aussie beers. And, sweet Jesus they are delicious! Not to mention the glory that is the Chicken Parmy, Australia’s national dish.
Well, there’s another week to go of Australia Month and it all culminates in a giant V-Sign to January with Australia Day THIS FRIDAY. So get down to a Draft House near you and help us finish off the container-load of awesome rare Aussie beer we have brought in specially for the day.
And so I say: DO NOT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION. DRINK BEER! BE HAPPY!!« Return to news listing
