We Haven’t Had That Spirit Here Since 1969

I am just back from the Swiss Alps where it rained, snowed then cleared up on the last day. We lunched at a truly bizarre and wonderful hotel – the Weisshorn – a large Victorian affair (above) only accessible by walkers and cross-country skiers. The interior – last touched up in 1969 – is a fabulously eccentric time capsule.

Wings Wednesday!

We launched a new menu last week and some of you were appalled to find that Wings had gone Walkies.

Well, they’re back in a big(ger) way. A Pound of Buffalo Wings £9.90 A boat-load of wings, southern-fried and slathered in Frank’s Red Hot Sauce with Blue Cheese Dip and Celery Sticks Buffalo Wing Poutine £8.90 Our famous poutine (Quebecois fries with gravy and cheese curds) topped with Buffalo Wings

New Menu at the ‘Pie Pubs’

Your wish was our command: we have added some terrific new dishes to our Pie menu at Draft House Birdcage. New delights include Pulled Pork Rolls, Spanikopita and the notorious Holy F*ck Scotch Egg from Pig & Hay (it’s amazing).

Two new sharing dishes – the Levantine Plate (above) and the Perfect Pig Plate – the latter featuring our famous Foot-Long Scratchings and among other porcine items.

Spring B U M P

Our Spring BUMP Spirit is produced in BUMP Caves with cacao husks from Madagascar, suppleid by Mast Brothers chocolatiers in Shoreditch.

These husks are rapid-infused into grain spirit using nitrogen gas; a techique whch maximises the flavour. After this rapid infusion the spirit is distilled under high pressure with our rotary evaporator at 50 degrees, which ensures no further flavour loss.

The clear cacao distillate is then diluted with filtered water and blended with Diplomatico Blanco, a 4 year Venezuelan charcoal filtered rum, and sweetened.

Enjoy as a shot for £3.90, or for £2.90 with any bottled beer (we recommend a dark one!)
