Time Out "London's 50 Best Pubs & Bars 2010": Draft House Northcote is top-rated Pub

A gastropub that has not forgotten the '-pub' bit of the term, Draft House in Battersea is run by beer enthusiasts who take pride in their well-chosen selection of 17 (yes, 17!) unusual draft beers - such as Wolf Ale from Norfolk, or Isle of Purbeck Solar Power, a lager from Dorset. There's also a wide range of bottled beers, from Cooper's Sparkling Ale (an Australian that's hoppier than Skippy) to Erdinger Dunkel (a dark wheat beer from Bavaria). Many beers are sold by the third of a pint, which allows you to try a greater variety of brews. The Draft House isn't all home knits, folk music and pork scratchings. A newly-revamped is served in the funky dining room through the back...

The interesting thing about The Draft House, is that if the competition have been paying any attention, they will be quite worried about what the upmarket beer-driven gastropub is doing.  To be precise, it's doing exactly what many of the comparable establishments ...do but a whole lot better.  The food is great - interesting, well executed and fairly priced - and the beer is, well, the beer is, it's just, it's, it's just the best.  Seriously, you will struggle to find a more erudite and diverse selection in South London.
